Word of the Week-Quickening

The word of the week appears to be "quickening."  For those of you not familiar, quickening refers to the initial movement of the fetus in the uterus as it is felt by the pregnant woman.  I have been asked multiple times recently, by those IRL and online, whether I've been feeling movement yet.  My decisive answer to this question is "most definitely, maybe, possibly, I'm not sure."  I feel little twinges, pulls, twitches, and gurgles all the time, but I never know for sure (yet) whether they are Apple and Banana squirming around or just tendons and muscles stretching or things going on in my digestive system.

I've read conflicting reports about whether carrying twins results in feeling movement earlier, but I've decided to stop reading because it is what it is.  I'll feel it when I feel it.

But still, I can't wait for the day when I feel something and know with absolutely certainty that I have experienced the coveted quickening!

I imagine that is an incredible feeling, when you know for sure!

I know I know. I don't know what I'm feeling and I can't wait to feel an unquestionable and hard kick.

That's exactly how I sounded...I felt like an idiot b/c I couldn't freaking tell if I was feeling them or not! Turns out that they were kicking each other for a while before they started inflicting their pain on me...I felt it later than most of the internet sites and books said. For me, it felt like popcorn popping up and hitting me in the stomach and I felt it more when I was semi-reclined and relaxed. Hope this helps, but I was as confused as you!

Those things you're feeling are most likely the babies!

I was really unsure at first - sometime during my 18th week too - but it kept getting more and more noticable and obvious that it was the baby (now he kicks my butt - literally - everyday)!

I love that old-school term, the first moment when in days of yore a woman knew she was actually pregnant.

Wishing that moment comes for you very soon...

I cannot wait for you to have that moment!

I'm a bit late to this post, but that's how it started for me. Maybe, possibly, sure! But even now I'm not sure exactly what all I'm feeling. The way I described it (some of the movements) is like a really big mosquito larvae wiggling (if you've never seen mosquito larvae in still water...sorry for the gross).

Now I can feel more determined movements, but still couldn't tell you exactly what I'm feeling. It's wonderful, though!
